Job Title: Chief of Unit, Information Systems and Telecommunications

OCHA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Chief of Unit, Information Systems and Telecommunications. This role is located in the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Baghdad.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Communications and Information Technology Section.
  • Plan and direct all major Communications and IT systems projects within the mission.
  • Prepare the inputs for the work program of the service and provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring for the senior staff.
  • Coordinate the generation of reports to the relevant UNHQ finance and budget review bodies.
  • Manage the acquisition of goods and services and coordinate the need assessments and the establishing of benchmarks.
  • Determine the need for testing/evaluating new products and technologies.
  • Ensure proper inventory control and asset management of ICT systems and services.
  • Serve as the main liaison and represent the service with its clients.
Requirements:
  • Advanced university degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of telecommunications and computer information systems.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
