Job Description
Position Summary: The Dean of Graduate Studies provides strategic leadership and oversight for all graduate programs at AUIB. The role focuses on enhancing the quality, relevance, and reputation of graduate education; supporting research initiatives; fostering interdisciplinary collaboration; and ensuring student success. The Dean works collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders to advance the graduate programs' mission in alignment with the university's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership and Planning
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for graduate studies aligned with the university's mission and goals.
- Lead efforts to improve program quality, academic standards, and innovation across graduate offerings.
- Foster a culture of excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in graduate
- Program Development and Oversight
- Oversee the development, review, and accreditation of graduate programs to ensure academic rigor and relevance.
- Work with faculty and departments to create new programs that respond to market needs and emerging disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, national accreditation standards, and government regulations.
- Student Success and Support
- Enhance graduate student recruitment, admissions, and retention
- Provide leadership in developing graduate student support services, including academic advising, career development, and mental health resources.
- Address student concerns and promote a supportive, inclusive academic
- Research and Scholarly Activity
- Support faculty and student research by fostering collaboration, securing funding, and promoting scholarly activities.
- Work with stakeholders to expand research infrastructure and funding opportunities for graduate
- Champion interdisciplinary and cross-college research
- Resource and Budget Management
- Oversee the budget for the Office of Graduate Studies, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Collaborate with university leadership to secure funding for graduate programs, fellowships, and research initiatives.
- Seek external partnerships and grants to support graduate education.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Build strong relationships with academic units, external partners, alumni, and industry leaders to enhance program visibility and opportunities.
- Serve as the voice of graduate education within the institution and at national/international forums.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to graduate studies.
Qualifications:
- A terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- A distinguished record of academic achievement, teaching, and research.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of administrative leadership experience in higher education, preferably in graduate education.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, accreditation processes, and research support.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
