Versar Global Solutions is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill temporary installation positions for the 3MW Power Plant and Distribution project in Erbil Airbase (EAB), Iraq. Your Impact
- Reports to Versar Site Manager
- Must have experience in MV/LV electrical distribution systems.
- Follows safety precautions and instructs employees against occupational hazards. Responsible for employee conduct and compliance with all safety policies, regulations, and compliance with all OSHA and NFPA requirements
- Attend daily Safety meetings/stand downs IAW with VGS (Versar Global Solutions) and client policies.
- Perform routine installation on electric power control equipment, high voltage switchgear, substations, transformers, circuit breakers, distribution networks, and distribution lines with the NEC and local codes.
- Promote and maintain safety following established safe work practices and procedures.
- Install and connect transformers and make hot taps and splices.
- Ensure correct testing and isolation procedures are followed before working on de-energized electrical networks or associated systems.
- Use a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, multimeters, growlers, meggers, power analyzers, and specialized test sets to test for shorts, continuity, and defective wiring and connections.
- Follow all VGS standard policies and practices.
- As directed by the Supervisor or Task Order Manager.

- Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
- Must maintain a valid driver's license from their home country with validity for 6 months from on-site employment date
- Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 6 months from on-site employment date. Passport must have a minimum of 6 blank pages prior to OCONUS mobilization.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
Additional Required Qualifications
- MUST have Medium Voltage Termination (jointer) Certification
- Minimum 2 years as licensed electrician with MV/LV electrical experience/IEEE credentials. At least two (2) years of post-accreditation experience performing installations and O&M of power distribution systems; with a minimum of two (2) years of deployed (non-CONUS) experience.
- Provide Certificates and license, and/or willingness to attend formal training.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED plus related technical training
- Must provide copies of training certificates in the Fundamentals of Electrical Safety based on NFPA 70E standards. This training must have been completed one year prior to the start of the contract.
- Must possess current training and be able to demonstrate general knowledge of industrial safety and environmental regulations, including compliance with OSHA and NFPA70E requirements, personal protective equipment usage and lock out tag out procedures for electrical, mechanical, and fluid systems and controls.
- Proficient with hand and power tools, shop equipment (hydraulic presses, drill presses), lifting devices, and various measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges).
- Skilled in using MV/LV testing devices including multimeters, power analyzers, insulation testers, DLRO, TTR, relay testers, ground resistance testers, cable locators, HiPot, etc.
- Ensure high-quality work and compliance with manufacturer recommendations, US Military, Host Nation, VGS environment and safety policies.
- Knowledgeable in powered support systems (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic), SCADA, switchgear, protection relays, substations, transformers, RMUs, and PLC controls.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings, specifications, SOPs, response procedures, and MSDS.
- Competent in inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of generators, transformers, circuit breakers, transfer switches, and fuel monitoring systems.
- Follows detailed instructions and established procedures; provides clear feedback on troubleshooting steps.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety practices, lockout/tagout, and use of PPE.
- Certified in First Aid & CPR, qualified to rescue injured victims from electrical conductors.
- Experience with installing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining MV/LV networks and hardware; fault-finding in underground networks.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with managers, subcontractors, military representatives, and local officials.
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks (heavy lifting, climbing, crawling, working outdoors in varied climates).
- Flexible to work up to 72 hours per week as required.
