Job purpose:

The Fleet Mechanic shall be responsible for the regular servicing and required maintenance of the NPA vehicle fleet & generators of NPA offices in South (Basra).

Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities shall include the following:

  • Work within the framework of NPA core values
  • Act as an ambassador for NPA, through professionalism and conduct
  • Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures
  • Daily, weekly and monthly planning for the servicing/maintenance of the NPA fleet & generators in Basra, Muthanna and Thi Qar offices.
  • Ensure that servicing is carried out as per manufacturer's manuals and instructions.
  • Ensure that only original parts and lubricants are used or fitted.
  • Complete job cards and paperwork for recording all services carried out.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance checks in coordination with authorized drivers.
  • Report to the Fleet Officer/ Sr.Logistics Officer any mis-use or damage caused to NPA vehicles due to the negligence of the driver/s or any accidents not reported by the driver.
  • Report any major faults found during servicing and seek solutions with guidance from the Fleet Officer / Sr.Logistics Officer.
  • Ensure that the fleet vehicle is in full roadworthy condition before releasing from workshop.
  • Assist the Fleet Officer in planning and organizing the servicing and maintenance of office generators.
  • Keep workshop area clean and tidy and ensure that all tools and equipment are kept in good condition.
Required qualifications:

Must have:

  • Recognised Mechanic qualifications or equivalent.
  • Certificated driving licence (National)

Desirable:

  • Basic English
  • Previous work with a Toyota workshop OR UN/ NGO fleet management team.
Experience:

Must have:

  • 5 years' experience servicing/maintaining diesel engines & vehicles, Toyota Land Cruisers and other Toyota vehicles.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Perkins generators & 4x4 vehicles.
  • Verbal proficiency in Arabic
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good communication and understanding skills
  • Able to work effectively under stressful situations, & adapt to, difficult conditions
  • Willingness & ability to travel within the country
Personal Competencies:
  • Ability to function under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
