About the Role:

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, seeks an experienced Investment Officer to join our Financial Institutions Group.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to IFC's mission of promoting sustainable development in emerging markets by investing in the private sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and execute financial sector investment projects in Iraq and across the region.
  • BUILD and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, and partners to develop the sector and identify investment opportunities.
  • Lead portfolio supervision of multiple projects across different asset classes.
  • Use financial skills and influencing abilities to overcome impasses and negotiate successful outcomes.
  • Identify innovative financial structures for clients, resulting in new transaction mandates for IFC.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to develop a strong pipeline of good-quality investment opportunities.

Requirements:

An ideal candidate will have:
  • A Master's degree in finance or management.
  • At least 10 years of experience in finance, investment, and/or banking, with a proven track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing investments.
  • Experience working with the Iraqi market and similar fragile and conflict-affected situations.
  • Strong financial and credit skills, with the ability to structure debt and equity instruments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the financial industry, local issues, and sectoral challenges in Middle Eastern countries.
  • Ability to build a strong network within the financial sector.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
