The Climate Change Project Coordinator will provide technical support to guide the project activities and outputs and ensure effective implementation of the climate change and resilience projects in Iraq and will be responsible for regular project reporting to the Head of Programme. The Climate Change Project Coordinator's duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Coordination and Project Management:
• Manage the overall conduct of the climate change and resilience projects in Iraq, including implementing planned activities, monitoring implementation progress, managing the project risks, capturing lessons learned, etc;
• Develop the annual work plan in coordination with the head of Programme and ensure its implementation;
• Supervise, guide, and coordinate the work of all project staff, consultants, and project cooperating partners to ensure that all stakeholders are delivering expected outputs in accordance with the project's logical framework;
• Engage and maintain a direct dialogue with internal and external stakeholders including government partners and technical institutions supporting the implementation of the project;
• In close coordination with the Head of Programme, prepare and revise project work and financial plans;
• Organize workshops and consultation meetings with key stakeholders and local communities (through CBPP) and prepare concept notes, agendas, and reports;
• Review project proposals received from implementing partners and provide technical and feasibility inputs; and
• Draft concept notes and project documents for Programmes/Projects and liaise with donors to mobilize project resources with the support of the Country Office.
Technical Support:
• Provide technical guidance to all relevant staff and cooperating partners on climate change and resilience; and
• Support the Head of Programme in providing technical input to working documents, studies, and technical reports as required in the framework of project activities on the topics of climate resilience, water management and food security.
Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Support the VAM and M&E team in preparing progress reports in compliance with the WFP and donor reporting guidelines, including (but not limited to) periodic status/progress reports, annual project performance reports including monitoring of project: Milestones, Financial data, Procurement data, Risk's assessment, Lessons learned and Project Results;
• Conduct regular visits to project sites as necessary;
• Gather, monitor and consolidate the narrative and financial reports from project executing partners in Iraq; and
• Lead on documenting the lessons learned from the project and providing recommendations for replication and up-scaling.
Coordination with Cooperating Partners:
• Identify and strengthen partnerships, programme opportunities, resource mobilization, and extension of operational/organizational support to all WFP projects related to climate change and resilience;
• Strengthen linkages and information flow between WFP and cooperating partners and correspondents through representation, liaison, networking, and attendance at meetings;
• Represent the WFP Iraq office at relevant international, regional, and national workshops and conferences and prepare technical notes for the senior management; and
• Strengthen liaison and communication with active UN agencies in the country as well as government counterparts to ensure partnership for effective delivery.
Knowledge management and information dissemination:
• Contribute to the knowledge management processes (knowledge acquisition, storage, distribution and use); and
• Ensure project visibility and implement awareness of the project with the support of the project and the communication teams.
