At Eni, we are looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent within the Zubair Field Operating Division in Basra, Iraq. You will be responsible for supervising Instrument and Electrical works, ensuring they are executed in strict compliance with approved project drawings, documents, schedules, budgets and applicable standards. Your role will focus on maintaining the technical integrity of all Instrument and Electrical activities, monitoring adherence to project timelines and financial constraints, and validating progress through accurate assessment of constructed quantities. This position demands a proactive approach to quality assurance and a commitment to delivering works that meet both project specifications and industry standards.

Your employment contract will be managed by Eni International Resources Ltd (EIRL).

Main responsibilities:

  • Verify that instrument works (instrument installation and calibration, instrument tubing installation and integrity, installation of DCS/ICSS and other equipment, mechanical completion checks) are carried out in compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable international codes and standards.
  • Verify that electrical works (installation of equipment, cable tray laying and cable pulling, terminations, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of LV & MV systems) are carried out in compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable international codes and standards. 
  • Prepare handover documentation and coordinate with Operations for system handover. 
    Verify that the procured and utilised materials are approved, certified, and in compliance with project specifications and applicable standards. 
  • Verify that instrument and electrical works are executed according to the project schedule and budget, highlighting any deviations and suggesting recovery actions. 
  • Demonstrate proven experience in supervising ESP wells electrification, including MV cable routing, installation of package substations, synchronisation systems, etc. 
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and technical solutions during execution. 
  • Validate instrument and electrical works progress to Construction Managers. 
  • Witness any construction and pre-commissioning tests and endorse (verify and sign) the relevant quality check sheets, as required by the Quality Control Plan. 
  • Keep daily records of manpower and events, and report if manpower levels affect the schedule. 
  • Assure that instrument and electrical works punch lists are properly detected, integrated within the mechanical completion master punch list, and cleared.

Skills and experience required:

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering. A Postgraduate Degree or Diploma in Construction Management will be an added advantage. 
  • Extensive experience in the oil and gas and refinery industry. 
  • Extensive experience in a supervisory role in construction. 
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite and AutoCAD; knowledge of Mechanical Completion management software is preferred. 
    Basic knowledge of the main process schemes for oil and gas treatment. Good knowledge of plant automation systems, plant construction, and commissioning. 
  • Knowledge of QA/QC Construction Management Systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of Construction and Commissioning HSE requirements, especially PTW and standard implementation. 
  • Understanding of construction planning and monitoring processes. 
  • Knowledge of mechanical completion processes and handover procedures. 
  • Familiarity with measurement methodologies and material quantities to control work progress, and methodologies to evaluate activity efficiency. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. 
  • Flexible and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills. 
  • High ethical standards for own work and that of team members. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
