Job Opportunity: Senior Financial Professional

Near East Foundation is seeking a Senior Financial Professional to join their team in Iraq.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience working in international organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile daily accounting entries and ensure compliance with NEF policies;
  • Verify procurement processes by reviewing invoices for accuracy and ensuring proper documentation is attached;
  • Review staff expense reports and advance requests to ensure compliance with NEF policies prior to payment;
  • Manage accounts payable process within Sage Intacct and submit weekly requests for payments to HQ;
  • Complete and submit monthly bank reconciliations and bank statements to the Finance Director;
  • Provide oversight to payroll administration to ensure accurate salaries, social security, income tax, and bank transfers;
  • Maintain control of petty cash and reconcile monthly;
  • Assist in preparation of disbursement vouchers, checks, and bank transfer requests;
  • Review expenditure reports submitted by partners and sub-grantees for accuracy and compliance;
  • Maintain fixed assets inventory;
  • Support the Finance Director in preparation of annual audits and quarterly forecasts;
  • Other financial tasks as requested by the Iraq Country Team Lead or Finance Director.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field;
  • Minimum 3 years accounting experience preferably from the international NGO sector;
  • Effective team player with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within a distributed team;
  • Competence with accounting software and MS Office applications;
  • Proficiency in written and oral English and Arabic required;
  • Able to read and interpret documents and communicate effectively;
  • Current knowledge of local regulations related to accounting, payroll, and benefit administration;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail;
  • Flexibility in accepting work assignments while maintaining focus on critical tasks.
