Years of experience: 10 years of active service in the field of managing basic designs modernization projects.
Project duration: 1 year.
Language Requirements: Fluency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Local Team Leader to join our team in Iraq. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing basic design modernization projects in power systems, including network masterplans and the design or management of transmission substations and overhead line projects. The role requires a skilled project manager with a proven track record, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in both local and international contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary Liaison with the Client:
    • Serve as the first point of contact for all interactions with the client.
    • Conduct all meetings with the client and meticulously prepare and maintain minutes of meetings.
    • Represent and defend Dornier against additional requirements from the client that fall outside the scope of the contract.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Lead and manage a team of local experts and guide data collector teams to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Coordinate activities with the International (Deputy) Team Leader to ensure alignment and consistency.
    • Oversee and synchronize efforts with the local subconsultant to maintain project cohesion.
  • Quality Assurance and Deliverables:
    • Review and approve all project deliverables, including reports, ensuring they meet the highest standards.
    • Ensure all deliverables are submitted in a timely manner and conform to the project specifications.
  • Workshop and Training Management:
    • Prepare and lead workshops with the client, including making all necessary organizational arrangements for foreign participants.
    • Develop and agree upon training content with the client, and arrange for foreign trainers to conduct these sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum of 15 years in managing power systems design modernization projects.
    • At least 5 years of experience as a project manager, preferably with significant responsibility and scope.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of network modelling software such as PSS/E and DIgSILENT.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Arabic.
    • Strong self-organization and time management abilities.
  • International Experience:
    • Previous experience working in international contexts outside of Iraq is a significant advantage.
