Position

Operations Manager will be responsible for Basrah Water Supply Improvement Project, a 199,000 m3/d reverse osmosis plant located in Basrah, Iraq.

Will ensure that the production and water quality are in accordance with the terms of the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract signed between XXXXXXX.

Reporting to the Plant Site Manager, he will perform all planning tasks related to the operation of the Basrah Water Supply Improvement Project in close coordination with the Maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

  1. Supervision and coordination of all water treatment operations activities including processes for pretreatment, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, re-mineralization, chlorination, auxiliaries and sludge treatment as applicable.
  2. Directing daily RO plant operation. Participating in maintaining oversight for process control decisions in order to meet or exceed product water quality requirements. Participate in the evaluation of data and coordination of process control changes.
  3. Supervising all operations procedures and disciplines employees performing duties daily operation of RO plant in order to operate the plant efficiently.
  4. Reporting any abnormality of process equipment, calibration of tools & equipment, maintaining & preparing operational records and monthly reports.
  5. Participating in laboratory activities on chemical tests for feed water, pre-treated water & treated water, ensuring that chemical consumption are as per schedule and that enough stock is kept for the continuous operation of the plant.
  6. Participating in supervising laboratory regulatory and process control testing and review procedures and quality control for compliance with the O&M contract.
  7. Participating in the formulation and initiation of new or improved practices and policies; Participating in developing plans and procedures to ensure efficient RO plant operation and in recommending RO plant improvements and additions.
  8. With the maintenance department, analyzes and evaluates operation and maintenance functions.
  9. Participating in studies which are investigating methods of improving operations.
  10. Reviews the "'Tools box talk" journals and other data and disseminates information to employees
  11. Prepares for and respond to water quality emergencies, maintains and update emergency response and risk management plans.
  12. Participating in continuous optimization of chemical, manpower and power.
  13. Participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommends and implements established policies and procedures.
  14. Attends and participates in management meetings, professional work related meetings/conferences to enhance professional development.
  15. Undertake and prepare training programs and plans to increase the efficiency and skills of departmental employees.
  16. Ensure proper follow-up of Permit to works related to Operation activities
